Gansu Hezheng Ancient Fossil Museum

Located at the intersection of the Loess Plateau and Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the Gansu Hezheng Ancient Fossil Museum is a national first-class museum and a core landmark of Linxia World Geopark. To vividly present the 30-million-year geological evolution and ancient life stories of the region, the museum adopted a 6-meter diameter P3 flexible spherical LED screen with a total area of 131㎡, custom-built for the core area of the No.1 Geology Exhibition Hall.

This spherical display, known as the “Digital Earth”, serves as the visual centerpiece of the museum’s science popularization narrative. Leveraging the high flexibility and seamless splicing capability of P3 flexible modules, the screen achieves a perfect spherical curvature with no distortion, no dead angles, and uniform color across the entire surface. Visitors can enjoy immersive, high-fidelity visuals from any viewing angle, making complex geological concepts such as Earth’s internal structure, continental drift, and the uplift of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau easy to understand.

The P3 pixel pitch ensures ultra-high definition playback, restoring fine details of geological textures and ancient biological models with stunning clarity. As an indoor application, the screen is calibrated for soft, balanced brightness to adapt to the museum’s ambient lighting, delivering comfortable viewing while protecting the exhibits.

Integrated with interactive systems, the spherical LED screen dynamically presents five major chapters of Earth’s evolution: the silent planet, the dawn of life, the age of dinosaurs, the rise of mammals, and the emergence of human civilization. It creates a seamless fusion of scientific rigor and artistic expression, turning static fossil displays into a dynamic, immersive journey through time.

This project not only upgrades the museum’s exhibition experience but also sets a new benchmark for the application of flexible spherical LED displays in popular science and cultural tourism.
