Project Overview

Gansu Hezheng Paleontological Fossil Museum, a national first-class museum and a national AAAA-level tourist attraction, is a professional museum focusing on the collection and display of late Cenozoic ancient mammal fossils. Luminatii customized a 6-meter diameter spherical display for the museum, adopting high-performance P3 flexible LED screen with a total display area of 131 square meters. The project aims to empower paleontological science popularization and create an immersive cultural and tourism experience, connecting the core exhibition line of the museum’s “four major ancient animal groups” and bringing the fossil heritage that has been sleeping for millions of years to “rebirth” through technological means.

Project Background and Requirements

With more than 250 genera and species of fossils belonging to 8 orders and 3 classes, the museum holds ten world records. It is an important science popularization position for conveying knowledge of paleontological evolution and showing the changes of the earth’s geology. With the upgrading of cultural and tourism integration, the museum urgently needs to break the limitations of traditional flat display, and use modern technological means to present the grand history of paleontological evolution and geological changes in a more intuitive and vivid way, enhance the interest and immersion of science popularization, and meet the needs of the museum’s digital upgrading and the creation of immersive research and study scenarios.

Product Application and Advantages

For this project, Luminatii P3 flexible LED screen is adopted, with a customized 6-meter diameter spherical shape and a total area of 131㎡, which perfectly adapts to the core exhibition space of the museum. Combining the dual advantages of P3 flexible screen and spherical shape, it achieves an innovative breakthrough in science popularization display:

1. Flexible Adaptation and Precise Shape: With excellent flexibility, the P3 flexible screen can be bent at multiple angles to fit the spherical structure. Relying on precision CNC processing technology, the spherical curvature is consistent. The giant spherical design with a diameter of 6 meters has become the core visual focus of the museum, which has both a sense of technology and art, and is highly consistent with the exhibition tone of the museum’s “prehistoric mysteries”.

3. 360° Immersive Experience: The spherical screen realizes 360° dead-angle-free viewing. No matter where the tourists are, they can get a consistent high-definition visual experience, breaking the viewing limitations of traditional flat display, transforming the audience from “passive viewing” to “immersive exploration”, deeply feeling the grand course of paleontological evolution, and helping to upgrade the effect of science popularization education (the retention rate of learning content in an immersive environment is more than 3 times that of traditional display methods).

4. Stable and Durable, Adapting to Venue Needs: The P3 flexible screen has passed strict high and low temperature tests, with no degumming and tilting risks. It has good heat dissipation and stability, supports front and rear maintenance, adapts to the museum’s use scenario of 360 days of opening and large passenger flow, can operate stably for a long time, and reduces the later maintenance cost.
